“All that you touch you change. All that you change changes you.

The only lasting truth is change. God Is Change.”

Octavia Butler

In 2020, we were challenged to change. On the forefront of scary and unknown realities, we knew our strength would come from holding onto each other and embracing change. Whether it be fighting for our incarcerated beloved affected by coronavirus, flanking the uprising for Black lives, or getting more intentional about strengthening our relationships at every level in the digital realm, we embraced change in every corner. Our lives have been forever changed by heightened loss, grief and isolation. And we’ve been humbled by the commitment and resilience of our kindred. As we take on a new year, we call on our ancestors for guidance and protection as we hold ourselves in this continuing battle for liberation.

Check out our 2020 Reflection video where we share our read of the political moment, celebrate the work that SONG chapters and crews moved across the region, and reflect on the ways we adapted to the shifts in our realities to get even bolder in our abolitionist demands.
