Granted Spring 2019

This MIP will do the work of researching and documenting the progressive 501(c)4 and PAC infrastructure across the South. A 501(c)4 organization (typically referred to as “social welfare” groups) are also nonprofit organizations, but these groups are allowed to to participate in politics like resourcing electoral elections and endorsing candidates.

PAC is short for Political Action Committee. This kind of organization exists to raise and spend money to elect and defeat candidates. This team will seek out a cohort of researchers and plan our own research convening. This team will contact individuals connected to C4s and PACs to interview them about their work and their impact. We will compile that information into a report/webinar/map, or other easily accessible format for SONG’s membership and Southern Movement.
