Granted Summer 2018

This team proposed a regional study/practice group by and for folks interested in AND working around collective or cooperative land projects in the South. There are an incredible set of SONG members and political family actively moving work around cooperative and collective land projects. This project seeks to connect some of the dots between these folks to identify how folks could better support each other, and to identify if there are key areas of study, collaboration, resource sharing etc. that would be of use to these cooperative ‘practitioners’. The leads on this project will work together to identify a common approach and scope of this project as it could go so many different ways!

For some it is connected to affordable housing and anti-gentrification, others are concerned with end of days, others are working to set up ways for undocumented people to own their own homes, others are working to build autonomous Black and/or POC specific land project. This is not a utopia study but a study on the practical, nut and bolts. Perhaps we will do a learning exchange between a couple of cooperative land projects being developed by SONGbirds, or a small gathering at the very least we will establish a set of relationships/kinship network of those in the SONG base engaging this work actively.
