Usando el surrealismo negrx como punto de partida, [b]REACH: adventures in heterotopia es una serie de actuaciones y obras que destacan las travesuras de lx PRISIONERX #25, de sujetxs negrxs camaleónicxs que viajan a través de la historia y el más allá del colonialismo y la esclavitud. El trabajo consiste en instalaciones visuales, auditivas, y ambientales - incluyendo proyecciones en múltiples canales; instalaciones fabricadas y específicas a sitios; presentaciones coreografiadas; teatro guerrillero; acciones directas, y pláticas de artistas o comunitarias. Ubicada durante la temporada de elecciones de 2020 para involucrar a nuestras comunidades en conversaciones públicas sobre la abolición y la seguridad pública, el apoyo MIP de SONG va a fortalecer el componente de involucramiento comunitario y de fortalecimiento de base del proyecto, la agencia de empleo fugitivo (“reubicación laboral”). Usando tácticas como la solicitación, mesas informativas, reuniones municipales, foros al estilo de asamblea pública, o el trabajo organizativo de acción directa, el proyecto generará un Manifiesto de sueños para reducir, eliminar o transformar el daño y demandar responsabilidad.
Using Black surrealism as a point of departure, [b]REACH: adventures in heterotopia is a series of performances and installations that feature the antics of PRISONER #25, shape-shifting Black Subjects who world themselves through the history and afterlife of colonialism and slavery. Determined to abolish the dystopia of hierarchy, ownership, and control, PRISONER #25 collaborates with a web of spin doctors, a cacophony of sounds, a band of outlaws and a chorus of abolitionist muses to plot cartographies that expand beyond the spaces and places of MISERABILISM.
Queering theory, activism, theatre, and exhibition, [b]REACH considers the breadth of Black radical imagination. The work consists of visual, sound, and environmental installations—including multi-channel projections; site-specific and fabricated installations; choreographed performances; guerrilla theatre; direct actions, and artist/community talks. Sited during the 2020 election season to engage our communities in public discussions regarding abolition and public safety, SONG’s MIP support will strengthen the project’s community engagement and base-building component, the Fugitive Employment Agency (“We Puts in Work”). Using tactics such as canvassing, tabling, citywide meetings, town hall-style forums, or direct action organizing, the project will generate a Manifesto/a/x of Dreams to reduce, eliminate or transform harm and demand accountability.
