On this Transgender Day of Remembrance, we reflect on the legacies of our trans ancestors and recommit to continuing their struggles for self-determination, liberation and abolition.

Trans and gender non-conforming folks have always lead us to a world beyond binaries, restrictive categories and cages. A world not threatened by the infinity of our existence. Let’s be clear, they are afraid of the possibilities of their own liberation. They are afraid of difference and aim to erase us, our communities and our legacy. Let’s tear down this world and rebuild it with an abundance of love for our complexity, power, beauty and resilience. A world liberated from cages, boxes and binaries. Today, we remember, mourn and celebrate our trans ancestors, who are our North Star to liberation.
